One of our missionaries attended World Refugee Day on June 20th with the 8,500 refugees at Lasu camp, located just a few miles from the Congo border. Here, the majority of the refugees are Congolese, but there are 300 refugees from the Nuba Mountains of Sudan. Even though Lasu is only 25 miles from Yei, the road is in such disrepair that the journey took nearly 3 hours! The Yei River Country Commissioner and other officials were in attendance, and the program included school parades, dancing, and drama. The Nuba people traditional dancing was particularly interesting because we have five boys from the Nuba Mountains.
