From England, with love…

It has been an unusually cold winter this year as I have been spending it in England on break from South Sudan, however the country never leaves my heart and only a few weeks ago  I had the privilege of speaking at one of my home church’s Missional Communities. ‘The Streets’ is  “a friendly environment for the vulnerable and street homeless to discover more about God”. After sharing stories from South Sudan, I showed them our new promo video and 3 stories from our sponsorship programme “Wings to Fly” (look here: http://www.irissouthsudan,org/sponsor-a-child/wings-to-fly/)

Each video is a small window into the lives of one of these young people as they share their dream and aspirations for the future. As this group of vulnerable, often homeless and disadvantaged people watched the stories, they were moved to pray and ask God for prophetic words to send to our young adults. Some of the men and women in ”The Streets” are only just learning that God loves them and yet the words they gave were so accurate.

A few days later I typed the words up and sent them to each young person in South Sudan.  It was wonderful moment to return to The Streets MC this Sunday and be able to tell them that I’d had a message back from one young man saying the night before he received the email, he had been talking to God about his future and how he was willing to return to the North to be a blessing to his people there.  This is exactly what the Lord had said to the group and was in the word they gave him.  They were so encouraged that God would speak to them about a person who they’d never met and lived thousands of miles away. I love how God connects us, Yay!
